An Optomap Exam provides:

1. An Eye Wellness Scan.

2. An in depth view of the Retinal Layers (where disease can start).

3. The ability for you to view your Optomap Retinal image with your Doctor during your exam.

4. The Optomap Exam is fast, easy, and comfortable.

5. Finally we are able to view the Retinal Layers without having to put “dilating drops” in your eyes (no glare or bright light problems after an eye exam).

Why is Optomap Retinal Examination such an important tool for your doctor ?

A comprehensive retinal examination can also detect signs of other diseases that affect not just your eyes, but also your overall health.

1) Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)
Many people will see improvement after their first wearing session. Results vary, but most patient will see significant improvement in the first week.

2) Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
The rate of change will vary from individual to individual. Typically, maximum results are achieved in the first few weeks to the first few months.

3) Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
Most people find that they do not require glasses or contact lenses beyond retainer wear. Retainer lenses must be worn to maintain the changes made to your corneas.

4) Retinal Detachment (RD)
Caused by severe nearsightedness or trauma, RD can also occur in patients with systemic diseases such as diabetes and will likely lead to permanent vision loss if not detected – www.allaboutvision.com

Obtaining the Optomap Retinal Images is comfortable, quick and very simple. By looking into the Optomap Eyepiece, the digital image of your retina is captured in less than a second. A small flash indicates the image has been taken. Nothing touches your eye during the process. Your Optomap Retinal Image is then immediately displayed for your eye care specialist to review with you. Best of all, the Optomap Retinal Exam does NOT require dilating drops which typically causes blurred vision and sensitivity to light for hours.
